To you, this might look like a stone path. In fact, we intended it to be a river of stone, resembling islands in a stream, flowing from the driveway to the front door, or perhaps the other way around.
It looks benign, calming, inviting, and as the garden grows in every Spring, the banks of the stream overflow onto the gravel. All very beautiful, until you've had a glass or two of wine, and the small ridges here and there on the flagstones rise up to meet you, to catch your heel and make you trip.
The path is our own field sobriety test. We didn't design it for that purpose, but it's twisty and turny and tricky enough to let us know who needs a ride home at the end of an evening.
